Working draft. Every item shown as [LIKE THIS] must be filled in before launch. This draft is not legal advice, and a qualified lawyer should review the final text before it is published.
These Terms are an agreement between you and [OPERATOR NAME](“we”, “us”, “our”) about your use of UmmulQuraan AI — an app that helps you learn to read the Qur'an with AI recitation feedback (the “app”). By using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The beta service
The app is currently offered as a beta (a preview version). It is open to anyone who wishes to try it. Because it is still being developed, features may change, be added, or be removed, and the app may occasionally be unavailable or behave unexpectedly. We provide the beta “as is” (see Disclaimers).
Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) to create an account. By creating one, you confirm that you are.
Children may learn with the app under the account and supervision of a parent or guardian. If you let a child use your account, you are responsible for their use, you agree to these Terms on their behalf, and you provide any consent required for their use — including for the processing of their voice recordings as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not provide separate accounts for children.
You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for all activity under your account.
What the app does
The app helps you learn to read the Qur'an. It records your recitation, analyzes it with our own AI, and gives feedback on pronunciation, vowel marks, and tajweed, along with lessons and progress tracking. We may update, improve, or change these features over time.
Your responsibilities
You agree to provide accurate account information and keep it current, to use the app only for lawful, personal, non-commercial learning, and to keep your account secure. You are responsible for the actions of anyone you allow to use your account, including a child under your supervision.
Your license to use the app
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use one copy of the app on a device you own or control, for your own learning. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense, reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where the law expressly allows it.
Your recordings & content
To provide the app, you give us permission to process your recordings so our AI can analyze them and give you feedback. This permission exists only to run the service for you.
Using your recordings to improve our AI is separate and optional: it happens only if you turn that setting on, and you can turn it off at any time. You can also ask us to delete your recordings. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
A note on religious learning
UmmulQuraan AI is a learning aid, offered with respect for the Qur'an and for adab (proper conduct). Please keep in mind:
- The app supports your practice — it does not replace a qualified teacher, scholar, or the traditional chain of learning.
- The AI gives feedback on recitation. It does not issue fatwas, religious rulings, or judgments about your faith, and its feedback may sometimes be imperfect.
- For religious rulings and deeper study, please consult a qualified scholar.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- disrupt, overload, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the app or its systems;
- copy, scrape, or extract content or data from the app by automated means;
- upload harmful code, or misuse the app in a way that harms others or us;
- submit recordings or content you do not have the right to submit.
Our intellectual property
The app itself — including its software, AI, design, text, graphics, and the “UmmulQuraan AI” name — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by law. These Terms do not give you any right to use our name, logo, or brand without our written permission. This does not affect your ownership of your own recordings and content (see Your recordings & content).
Payments & subscriptions
The app is currently free to use during the beta. We may introduce paid features or subscriptions in the future. If we do, we will present the price and terms clearly before you pay, and any purchase made through the Apple App Store or Google Play will also be subject to that store's terms and billing rules. We will update these Terms before charging for anything.
App stores
If you download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to that store's terms. These Terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or for support, and — where applicable — Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to your use of the app on Apple devices, and may enforce them.
Disclaimers
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fully accurate, including the AI's feedback. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Where liability cannot be fully excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the app, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or the rights of others.
Termination
You may stop using the app and close your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, misuse the app, or where we must do so for legal or security reasons. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability — will continue to apply.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and give reasonable notice in the app or by email. Continuing to use the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [COUNTRY / JURISDICTION], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of [COUNTRY / JURISDICTION], unless applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
Note for launch: your lawyer should confirm the governing law, court/venue, and whether to include an arbitration or class-action provision for your main markets.
